Mendip Autumn Folk Festival 2011 is CANCELLED
The Committee of The Mendip Autumn Folk Festival have made the realistic and hard decision to cancel this years festival due to lack of advanced bookings and a general negative approach by outside influences who have had a very negative and damaging effect on the on the procedural approach of this festival. In due course these influences and negativities will be addressed and dealt with.
The financial position has been compromised by the lack of bookings and interest shown. This negates the hard work and dedication by several people over the last few months. It must be said that the association aimed to produce a new approach to influencing the protection of folk, its heritage and meaning, and helping new talent to perform in the public domain thus giving them a helping hand.
We are saddened by this decision but with just over four weeks to go before the festival this decision was unanimous.
We apologize to the artists booked and loss of benefit in revenue for traders and support services.
Everyone who bought tickets and or booked spaces has, or will be, contacted and refunded where necessary.
